Sponsored by Brunel, this competition seeks innovative Bluetooth low energy technology applications that will be utilized and commercialized in the open market in primarily the sports, fitness and healthcare industry.

The winner receives €5.000,- and an exhibition space at ispo winter 2010
All submitted applications and ideas will be judged, with the best submissions receiving official competition awards. The winner will be elected from the four finalist, and will receive € 5.000,-. Why Bluetooth?

Bluetooth wireless technology is the global short-range wireless standard for personal connectivity of a broad range of electronic devices. The technology continues to evolve, building on its inherent strengths – small-form factor radio, low power, low cost, built-in security, robustness, ease-of-use, and ad hoc networking abilities. More than nine new Bluetooth enabled products are qualified every working day and 18 million Bluetooth wireless technology units are shipping per week. There are over two billion Bluetooth wireless technology devices in the marketplace and that number climbs daily, making it the only proven wireless choice for developers, product manufacturers, and consumers worldwide.

Why sports en fitness?

The sports and fitness market is virtually untapped as far as Bluetooth technology is concerned. Devices such as heart rate monitors, pedometers, odometers and monitors that are built in to clothing and watches all require very low cost and long battery life. Users increasingly want to record data from these devices, so that they can chart their progress. Bluetooth low energy technology is key to this application – both for local display on monitor devices or PCs and for remote transmission to web-based applications.
